I mainly promote collaborations between research and clinical organizations in the field of the cardiovascular as well as the thoracic and chest diseases. I have faith that interdisciplinary operating rooms and teamwork of quite various physicians from different specializations developing innovative treatment methods for structural heart disease, complex lung diseases, and atherosclerosis are needed. While innovative solutions are said to be coming about, I feel very optimistic about the future of cardiothoracic surgery and the role to be played by multi-disciplinary collaboration in improving patient outcomes.
